From her years in business and her training as a Reiki practitioner, Shula Starkey understands just how much stress and the pressures of day to day living can upset the normal physiological functions of our bodies. ARK’s mission is to “Enhance the Flow of Life Energy” and encourage people to develop their own natural beauty through balance and happiness in body, mind and spirit.
1998: IN THE BEGINNING
Shula Starkey launches her first ARK Skincare Centre in Fulham, South West London.
Shula’s own experience of beauty salons or hairdressers was one of total intimidation. She wanted to create somewhere where nobody ever felt that way. They would feel welcome and important from the minute they walked in and they would be given the recognition they deserved. Shula wanted to make a contribution; to make people feel better. In feeling better, they look better and take some time for themselves.
2008: 10th ANNIVERSARY
Ark has now expanded to three branches in London. The ARK Skincare Centres champion the importance of touch by delivering hands-on treatments with love and care.
ARK has a reputation for consistently performing results-driven treatments, providing service and excellence in all we do. We aim for achievable wellness – making a difference to every person who walks through the door. After all, everyone deserves to have health and happiness.
2009: AGE AWARE SKINCARE
2009 brings a new dawn to ARK with the exclusive launch of ARK Age Aware Skincare.
Developed over 4 years of research, ARK Age Aware Skincare is the result of a collaboration with Dr. Penny Kendall-Reed, a Naturopathic doctor and leading expert in preventative health and nutrition from Canada.
ARK Age Aware Skincare introduces a revolutionary way to look at skin defined by your skin’s changing needs as you age rather than by skin type. “Age appropriate” products are divided into 3 age-related categories: age prepare (Teens to early 30s), age maintain (Mid 30s to 50) and age repair (50s and beyond).
Shula had looked to her own family and noticed how their skin had matured and changed with age. Her mother, sister and Shula are 17 years apart and fall into those same 3 age categories, thereby becoming the faces of ARK Age Aware Skincare.
SKINRESPONSE
Your skin is like your fingerprint – unique, priceless and without equal. It requires its own prescribed treatment that changes as and when the skin’s needs change.
ARK Age Aware Skincare have developed a collection of SkinResponse Serums that can be added to other products within the range to intensify the bioactive treatment of your skin as and when you see that it needs it.
The same honesty and integrity that is synonymous with Ark is present in our product formulations and our service to you. All our team are trained, professional therapists who will share with you the knowledge and information needed to truly understand and respond to your skin.
ARK HOME AROMATICS
Accompanying this new launch is a home aromatherapy gift range, ARK Home Aromatics.
Three exceptional natural fragrances made from pure essential oils – living, loving and lounging – allow you to find balance and support for optimal skin and body health in your own surroundings.
2011: PROFESSIONAL ROLL-OUT
Two years on from the highly successful launch of ARK Age Aware Skincare and 2011 marks another milestone in the ARK journey. Following the debut at trade show Olympia Beauty, ARK Age Aware Skincare is launched to professional salons across the UK. ARK products and treatments are now available in around 100 independent salons nationwide. To support Brand Partners ARK has opened a dedicated ARK Training Academy with a fully qualified Academy Training Manager to share the ARK philosophy, product knowledge and treatment techniques.
2012: ARK AT HOME
A new chapter begins for ARK this year with the launch of ARK At Home. The brand new concept brings ARK products into living rooms nationwide as well as creating thousands of business opportunities. ARK At Home realises Shula’s vision of empowering women with legions of ‘Angels’ spreading the message of the intrinsic link between beauty and wellbeing and teaching women to fall in love with the ritual of caring for their skin.
