"Penny and I started our friendship thanks to a chance meeting on a beach in St Lucia! Peter and I had been thinking about developing our own product line for a long time but we were looking for a unique and exceptional treatment concept. Penny's knowledge changed my life. Together we started to develop the idea of treating your skin according to the age you are rather than applying certain products to certain skin types no matter how old you are. The concept for ARK Age Aware Skincare was born.
My mother, my sister and I define ARK Age Aware Skincare. We are 17 years apart and our skin is at three different stages in the ageing process. Each of us has different skincare needs because of our age."
Shula Starkey
Shula Starkey, Co-founder
Shula Starkey is co-founder of Ark Health & Beauty skincare centres, located in London, UK. She is a beauty ambassador with a wealth of skincare and wellbeing knowledge. Over the past 10 years, Shula’s therapist teams at Ark have performed over 100,000 treatments and together they have become experts in understanding and responding to their clients’ skincare concerns.
Shula’s dedication has earned Ark an enviable reputation as a leading skincare centre. Her life and business philosophy lie very much in Eastern traditions and her mantra of living in the moment keep her and her team focused on being the best they can be to deliver the perfect treatment.
Shula has studied Feng Shui and is a Level II Reiki practitioner. She trained in the Usui Reiki Network with Mrs Barbara McGregor and has practised Reiki for 10 years at Ark skincare centres. Her honest, personable approach to caring for your skin and body has been heralded in publications and on radio nationwide.
Peter Clarke, Co-founder
Peter Clarke has a background in property design and development. Known as a perfectionist, with a keen eye for detail and consistency, Peter's property design expertise has been showcased in national magazines.
Peter created the distinctive look and feel of Ark Skincare Centres and was instrumental in the successful expansion of the business. He carefully rolled out this concept to four properties in South West London, selecting the location and overseeing the interior design of each one.
He has brought together a team of marketing, design and development professionals to create the ARK Age Aware Skincare brand as you see it. He is responsible for sourcing all the product packaging and component parts, for the look of all ARK Age Aware Skincare products, packaging and marketing materials and for the design of ARK's Skincare Centres.
Penny Kendall-Reed, Partner
Dr. Penny Kendall-Reed, ND, is a specialist in weight loss and preventative health and author of the best-selling book, The No Crave Diet. After graduating from McGill University, Canada with a B.Sc. in Biology and a minor in Neurobiology, she attended the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine where she earned a degree in Naturopathic Medicine in 1977, receiving the Dr. Allen Tyler Award for Most Outstanding Clinician.
Penny travels extensively throughout Canada and the United States holding health retreats and she lectures at various resorts worldwide on weight loss and related diseases. A health expert for CTV’s on line and Canadian Living magazine, Penny appears regularly on television, magazine and radio across Canada and the United States addressing various health issues. She is also the clinic director and a practicing Naturopathic Doctor at Urban Wellness in Toronto.
Penny (along with her husband, Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Stephen Reed) is author of other best-selling books, Healing Arthritis, The Complete Doctor’s Stress Solution, and The Complete Doctor’s Healthy Back Bible.
