I find it tough to find products that can do a bit of everything. Make your makeup last, protect your skin, make you glow and also make you look flawless all at the same time.
ARK Skincare very kindly sent me their Award Winning Skin Protector SPF 30 Primer and it made me incredibly happy. All opinions are my own and very honest. I had previously spoke to them at a blogging event and heard all about their award winning products that can help with many skin concerns all at once.
Not only does it give you a flawless finish and hydrate your skin for a natural glow, it protects your skin against UVA and UVB rays to prevent sun damage and premature ageing. I find that my makeup glides on effortlessly after applying just a very small amount, and also helps to blur any blemishes that I’m dealing with.
It’s lightweight formula feels very natural and helps your skin breath, even with makeup on. Due to its light formula it gives your skin a dewy finish depending on the foundation you choose to use. I tend to use medium coverage dewy foundations, but it also works incredibly well with matte finishes as it keeps your skin hydrated. I’ve also used just this without applying any face makeup and it made such a difference to brighten up my skin.
I will most definitely be using this more and more when the weather brightens up and for my summer travels due to its SPF formulation – who wants premature ageing, right? RRP £36.00.
What’s your primer pick at the minute?
I had heard a little about Ark as a brand in the last year or so but never tried anything from their range myself. That was until I had the opportunity to try the Ark Skincare Anti-Redness Serum, to see if it helped with the appearance of my broken capillaries and sensitivity.
Ark Skincare Skinperfector ‘Anti-Redness’ Serum
I always worry about trying new brands, as any of you who read my blog will know I have sensitive skin, which can also be reactive prone, to ingredients/products/due to health etc, etc. Using this I needn’t have been worried in the slightest. It’s super gentle and is having a good effect on my skin, whilst being part of my morning routine.
Ingredients : Water, Sweet Almond Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylhexyldodecanol, Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate, Acetamide Mea, Peg-100 Stearate, Cetearyl Olivate, Solomon’s Seal Extract, Cypress Seed Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Sorbitan Olivate, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Sunflower Seed Oil Unsaponifiables, Echium Plantagineum Seed Oil, Disodium Edta, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Cardiospermum Halicacabum Flower/Leaf/Vine Extract, Vanilla Planifolia, Acacia Dealbata, Sodium Benzoate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Tocopherol, Silica, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid, Linalool, Limonene, Geraniol. Plus perfume – from essential oils.
This lovely creamy, yet light and cooling serum, has a great slip so a little goes a long way when applying to the face. I have been using it amongst other products (containing mainly essential oil ingredients), as part of my morning routine so over oil and under moisturiser. If my skin feels a little stressed during the day and gets red, I press a couple more drops into those areas to soothe. It’s simply lovely, very calming, no perfume, no stickiness, no roll-off with other products (as I layer), even with foundation. Now that’s really good, considering many serums used whilst layering will often cause product ‘bobbly bits’ or, roll-off, especially when adding foundation over the top.
I am noticing a difference in my overall redness and my skin seems soothed and calmed. My broken capillaries will always be there unless they are lasered surgically (and I’m not up for that), but they are not looking as prominent lately due the calming of the redness. This lovely natural based serum contains Echium oil which, is high in Linoleic – omega fatty acids that help reduce inflammation whilst protecting the epidermal layer of the skin.
Ark Skincare is a British made brand, their product statement being ; ‘Natural Ingredients, Effective Results’, and if the rest of their products are like this serum, I can totally comprehend that statement. They have different products to see skin through different ages/stages of life, suiting different needs. I am now interested in trying more from Ark Age Aware Skincare, especially their Firming serum along with a few other products.
Ark Skincare Skinperfector Anti-Redness Serum is available in a 30ml size (which with 2-3 drops each use will last a few months). Priced at £42 it can be purchased here.
Recently I have been getting more into my skincare, and I'm so happy to say I have completely ditched the makeup wipes. This surprises me a lot because before they were something I couldn't live without, bad beauty blogger I know but they were just so easy. That was until I found out that skincare routines don't actually take much longer than using multiple makeup wipes to attempt to remove the daily makeup.
I have picked up a few cleansers recently to remove my makeup, but the one I've been loving the most is the Ark Skincare Age Protect Clear Cleanser*. I trialled a sample of this cleanser last year when I wasn't overly into my skincare but I wasn't fussed by it, I felt like it wasn't doing anything due to the fact that it didn't lather up very much. I was pretty clueless back then, but since trying it again I have learnt a lot, and I have fallen in love with this cleanser. It is a soap-free cleanser, which I have learnt to love because I usually do love something that you can see is working on your skin, but my skin feels so clean and fresh after using this cleanser. It doesn't leave your skin feeling dry and tight like I've found other cleansers do.
This cleanser has many ingredients that help keep your skin clear, including Oat Amino Acids to wash away skin's impurities without damaging the skin's natural barrier, and White Tea which is an anti-microbial that protects skin from spots and free radicals. It has been designed with young skin in mind, to keep your skin young for as long as possible. The whole Age Protect range is amazing, I love every product as it all works wonders on my skin. They also do Age Defend and Age Defy ranges for older ages.
The bottle is priced at £24, which may seem a lot for a cleanser but it is so worth it. I find with skincare that the higher end products are 99% usually better than drugstore alternatives, which is so different to the makeup world. Skincare is something I'm willing to splurge on as I like knowing what I'm putting on my face, and higher end brands are usually better for your skin. I use one pump per cleanse, which is enough to take off all face makeup. I do like to double cleanse if I'm wearing particularly stubborn makeup so I either use this twice, or pair it with another cleanser to leave my skin fully clean and free from the makeup I wore that day.
If you listen to any of my advice it would be to ditch those makeup wipes, they are doing nothing at all for your skin, and pick up this cleanser from Ark Skincare.
I’ve been using products from the Age Maintain range at ARK Skincare for quite a while now, and I’m loving the effect they’re having on my skin. My complexion is far from perfect, and I do have annoying habit of touching my forehead which doesnt help, but that aside I’m beyond impressed with this collection and what it’s done for me. Overall my skin is definitely brighter, clearer and I have less blemishes than I did previously.
So I was really excited to find out that ARK have just launched a brand new product – the Hydration Injection Masque…
Designed specifically to revitalise tired skin, the new Hydration Injection Masque is described as the perfect pick me up for skin which looks tired, stressed and lacking in radiance – yes this is definitely something I’d want to try on my skin!
I do love a good face mask as a treat for my often tired and dull looking complexion, but as I have sensitive, and I’ve just found out ‘very reactive’ skin, choosing a mask can be a bit of a minefield. It’s often just a case of if I don’t get a reaction then great, and if I do have a reaction I just have to deal with it – which isn’t ideal I know.
Anyway, I’ve used this mask a couple of times now and I can safely say my skin likes it, yay! No reactions here!
The product itself is semi-transparent, and has quite a thick consistency. I should also mention that this mask is part of the new Skin Perfectors range which targets specific skin concerns.
The Hydration Injection Masque contains active botanical Ingredients including an encapsulated blend of vitamins for maximum efficacy: Vitamin A to regulate collagen synthesis; Vitamin B5 for smoothness;Vitamin C to fade pigmentation and Vitamin E to prevent UV damage. Hyaluronic Acid Booster drenches skin with moisture, optimising the circulation of water through all skin layers and providing 24-hour protection against water loss, and Sugar Beet and Abyssinian Oil intensely nourish the skin for a plush, luxury skin feel.
You’re advised to use it once or twice a week, and to apply a thin layer to cleansed skin whilst avoiding the delicate eye area. ARK recommend you use the product differently depending on your age, and remove with a hot cloth –
Teens and twenties: Leave on for approximately 5 minutes.
Thirties and forties: Leave on for approximately 10 minutes.
Fifties and onwards: Leave on for approximately 20 minutes. Can also be left on overnight for an intensive treatment.
If you’re on the market for a new skin plumping and hydrating mask, I’d definitely recommend giving this a go.
ARK Hydration Injection Masque, £35 for 75ml, and is available now from ARK Skincare.
I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
